Leadership Ohio announces new board members

Leadership Ohio announces the appointment of four new members of its Board of Trustees, as well as a full slate of officers for 2020.

Joining the Board of Trustees are Andrew Mangels (Class of 2018) and Melissa Howell, Derrick Shelton and Adrian Thompson (all Class of 2019). “All four of our newest Board members embody the spirit of Leadership Ohio and bring talent, expertise and passion to our charge. We are very fortunate to have them on board as we continue to grow and strengthen Ohio’s public, private and civic leaders in the new decade,” Lisa Duty, Executive Director.

The four join the board as Leadership Ohio launches its application cycle for the much anticipated 2020 Year. Leadership Ohio is currently seeking motivated, passionate, intelligent, visionary, enthusiastic, committed, driven, energetic, dedicated, ambitious and inspired leaders— individuals who want to create change in Ohio in 2020 and beyond. Introducing:

Andrew Mangels | Andrew Mangels is the Director of the Porter Public Library in Westlake, OH, a suburb of Cleveland. Mangels is involved and engaged in many community activities and organizations such as Kiwanis and Rotary as well as serving on the Boards of Connecting for Kids and the Far West Center, a community mental health facility.

Melissa Howell | Melissa Howell has been the Health Commissioner for Greene County Public Health since 2013. She directs over 60 full time public health professionals in daily operations, creates vision, and oversees the implementation of the strategies used to improve community health.

Dr. Derrick Shelton | Dr. Derrick Shelton has over 20 years of experience in the field of education. An MBA-Ph.D., he has served as a special education teacher, principal, superintendent and in several other positions in various school systems. Dr. Shelton currently serves at Reynoldsburg City Schools.

Adrian Thompson | Adrian Thompson is Co-Partner-in-Charge at Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP. Today, he leads 60 attorneys in Taft’s Cleveland office and serves as the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer. In this role he helps to drive the firm’s commitment and strategy regarding diversity and inclusion across Taft’s nine offices, its 460 attorneys, and in the Midwest communities that Taft serves.
